Strip Wood Flooring -
Produced in solid and engineered wood floor
products which are usually less than 3 inches in widths, most often in 2-1/4"
( the staple unfinished wood flooring of the industry) and 1-1/2" width strips and are normally
installed in parallel rows in various thicknesses. Strip Wood Flooring
construction is side and end -matched tongue and grooved. Some strip wood
flooring also is produced in 3/8" format, solid or engineered. Solid
strip wood flooring is most often
nailed or fastened to a proper wood subfloor
(plywood), or screeds on concrete slab construction.
Engineered strip
wood flooring can be glued down, as can some types of solid wood
flooring products. Moisture concerns should be given when
installing solid strip wood flooring products and should NOT be
installed below grade (basements), bathrooms and laundry rooms.
These products are also produced in
unfinished,
prefinished of
domestic and
exotic imported
wood floor species. (Click images for a larger view.)
